Kelly H — Scoliosis and 2 Car Accidents

Being tall and slender also has its downfalls, like being diagnosed with Idiopathic Scoliosis since the age of 10 and after 2 major car accidents in my early twenties; I was left with chronic headaches, constant neck and back spasms, and numbness of the arms and legs. Years later, I was diagnosed with and 11-degree reverse curvature and degenerating disc disease in my neck.

At 23, you think “I’ll be alright. I don’t need to do anything about this, it will fix itself.” As the years went by of not taking care of the problem, I found myself in constant daily pain. Just the tension and tightness in my upper traps would send electrical shocks of pain shooting through my neck and back. I cant even count how many hours of sleep I lost or how many mornings I awoke with neck spasms so bad I could barely turn my head to the right or left.

Finally on my 27th birthday, I had changed careers and moved back to the Orlando and started a business with my mom, owning a Pilates, Rehabilitation, and Wellness studio. Now being a personal trainer and Pilates instructor, how was I supposed to be able to look at my clients in the face and tell tem to take care of their bodies and rehabilitate their injuries, when I wasn’t doing the same for myself. I couldn’t even do half the exercises I was telling them to do, due to the severity of my injuries.

I made a decision to stop living in pain and stop making excuses. I went back to a doctor to see what my options were (of course surgery was not an option) and came to realize because I had let these injuries go for so long, I had actually cause more damage to my spine and muscular structure. I started seeing a chiropractor three times a week, for manipulation and electrical stimulation. Within a month, I realized that the manipulation I was receiving was actually causing me to have more pain.

Then I heard about Touch of Health through a friend from work. She talked about the activator and how much better she felt as soon as she stepped out their front door. I decided I would at least check it out, what did I have to lose? I started seeing Dr. Mark twice a week for a couple months then every other week for another 3 months. And my friend was right, I felt like a million bucks! My scoliosis straightened itself out, my reverse curvature in my neck has been on the road to recovery, and my neck and back spasms, pain and headaches are completely gone.

It’s been a year and 7 months now I can still see Dr. Mark once a month to make sure my spine is healthy and in alignment. I practice Pilates and do some of my own Rehabilitation exercises designed especially for my needs 5-6 days a week. You only get one body in this lifetime and it’s up to you to take care of it! I now live my life pain free thanks to Dr. Mark and his magical wand or “activator”.
